About the position
The Department of Biological Sciences at Delaware State University is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor to teach undergraduate courses in Principles of Physiology, Human Anatomy, and/or Developmental Biology. The position requires a Ph.D. in Biology, specifically in neurophysiology or neuroanatomy, along with post-doctoral experience. The successful candidate will also engage in research and scholarship, particularly in Neuroscience, while contributing to the academic success of a diverse student population.
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in Principles of Physiology, Human Anatomy, and/or Developmental Biology.
- Engage in research and scholarship, including mentoring student research and building a research portfolio.
- Complete departmental and university requirements, such as meeting attendance and office hours.
- Design and develop courses that engage student learning and facilitate academic success.
- Contribute to service within the department, college, and profession.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, or a related field.
- Post-doctoral experience required.
- Ability to teach undergraduate biology courses.
- Ability to identify collaborative research and outreach opportunities.
- Ability to effectively mentor undergraduate and graduate research.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Commitment to service at the departmental and university level.
- Experience at an HBCU and/or with underrepresented minorities.
