About the position

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Mathematics position to begin August 2025. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field. While candidates from all areas are welcome to apply, those with interest in or experience teaching applied mathematics, mathematics education, or statistics may be given preference. The beautiful campus of Benedictine College is situated in picturesque Atchison, KS on the bluffs above the Missouri River. Atchison is within an hour drive of major cities such as Kansas City, Saint Joseph, Lawrence, and Topeka as well as 40 minutes from the Kansas City International Airport. Benedictine College has a full-time undergraduate enrollment of approximately 2200 students and is a mission-centered academic community. Its mission as a Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts, and residential college is the education of men and women within a community of faith and scholarship. Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in statistics and mathematics with a typical course load of 12 credit hours per semester.
  • Teach 3-4 courses per semester, including service courses such as introductory statistics or precalculus.
  • Engage undergraduate students in research.
  • Participate in service to the department, college, and community.
  • Remain active in scholarship and hold broad teaching interests.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field, such as applied mathematics, mathematics education, or data science.
  • Relevant teaching experience and/or demonstrated potential preferred.
