About the position

The Tenure Track Faculty position in Biochemistry at Framingham State University is a full-time role focused on teaching and research within the Chemistry and Food Science Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a two-semester Biochemistry sequence for majors and minors, as well as potentially teaching courses for nutrition and dietetic majors and general chemistry. The role emphasizes undergraduate education, student engagement, and the establishment of a research program involving undergraduates. The position also includes responsibilities in student advising, curriculum development, and service to the university.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a two-semester Biochemistry sequence for Biochemistry majors and minors.
  • Teach a one-semester Biochemistry course for nutrition and dietetic majors.
  • Teach general chemistry for majors and non-majors or related courses.
  • Establish a research program involving undergraduates in Chemical Research courses.
  • Engage students in a collaborative learning environment.
  • Advise students and support their academic development.
  • Participate in curriculum development and service to the University and Department.
  • Pursue continuing professional development and scholarship.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Molecular Biology, or a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity, inclusion, and social justice in higher education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching undergraduate courses in Biochemistry or related fields.
  • Ability to connect with and support first-generation students and historically under-served groups in STEM.
