About the position

The Tenure Track Faculty position in Pediatric Nursing at California State University, Sacramento, is designed for individuals committed to teaching, research, and service in nursing education. The role involves teaching primarily in the pre-licensure program, supervising students in clinical settings, and engaging in curriculum development. The faculty member will contribute to the School of Nursing's mission of transforming healthcare through innovative education and community partnerships, with a focus on supporting Latinx/e student success.

Responsibilities

  • Classroom management and instruction in Pediatric nursing primarily in the pre-licensure program.
  • Direct supervision of students in community and agency-based settings.
  • Participation in course and program curriculum revision and development ensuring access and inclusion towards academic excellence.
  • Team teaching, including organizational abilities required for leading lecture and clinical courses.
  • Effective and clear communication with diverse groups of faculty, students, staff, and clients.
  • Student advising within the major.
  • Engaging in scholarly and creative activities; Advanced Professional/Clinical Certification Achievements.
  • Serving on School, College, and University committees; assist with Nursing school licensing and accreditation.
  • Providing service to the community of Sacramento and the professional community.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree in Nursing (PhD or DNP) or a Master's degree in Nursing and a terminal degree in a related discipline required for Academic Tenure Track.
  • Master's degree in nursing or bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited program with a master's degree in a health-related field required for Clinical Tenure Track.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and excellence in the academic community through research, teaching, and/or service.
  • Pediatric health nursing content, both clinical and didactic, at the bachelor's or master's level.
  • Eligibility for licensure by the California Board of Registered Nursing, to be granted prior to the start of employment.
  • Minimum 1-year cumulative clinical as an RN and/or teaching experience in Pediatric health nursing in the last 5 years.
  • Minimum of 5 years as an RN.
  • Evidence of continuing education in content and/or clinical appropriate to the area of practice.

Nice-to-haves

  • An earned doctorate in Nursing.
  • Graduate preparation/coursework in the area of teaching specialization (Pediatrics).
  • Graduate preparation/coursework in curriculum development and instruction that is global in perspective.
  • Ability to choose and implement technologies for enhancing student learning.
  • Training in online teaching that centers accessibility and leverages the skills of all learners.
  • Experience with simulation technology.
  • Demonstrated commitment or ability to collaborate with faculty, students, and campus community on various projects.
  • Experience with effective, diverse assessment practices that support course learning outcomes.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive pension and benefits package.
  • Approximately one month off between semesters and summer months off (June to late August).
  • Salary range of $74,652-$174,276, with an anticipated starting salary of $90,000 for 10 months of work paid over 12 months.
