About the position

The Terminal Manager of Intermodal Operations at REMPREX is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a specific intermodal facility, ensuring timely service delivery by managing a team of front-line supervisors and operations personnel. This role requires strong communication and leadership skills to motivate and collaborate with team members, while also focusing on strategic operational planning and performance management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage staff scheduling, including work assignments and rotations, vacations, breaks, and coverage for absent employees.
  • Knowledge of all positions and work assignments to be able to cover as needed for vacations, vacancies and breaks.
  • Create, communicate, and execute strategic operational plans to ensure daily success of salaried and hourly staff.
  • Facilitate the interview process for new hires and provide feedback and insight to REMPREX upper management.
  • Mentor, train, and support the growth of front-line supervisors.
  • Conduct Coach and Counsel sessions with staff and administer appropriate discipline as needed.
  • Ensure that supervisors conduct daily Safety Briefings and inform staff of shift updates.
  • Assist staff in resolving complex operations problems.
  • Work with supervisors to generate employee goals and review points.
  • Attend Yard Audit, Site Safety, and Senior Hub Management meetings.
  • Manage the input, review, and analysis of performance metrics.
  • Help all supervised employees improve and maintain performance levels.
  • Organize regularly scheduled meetings to enhance staff and management understanding of the strategic terminal plan and specific KPIs.
  • Align company and client goals to ensure success of the entire operation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of work experience in the intermodal industry including experience managing both union and non-union staff members.
  • Professional presentation and the proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to extended or adjusted hours as needed.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing customer requests and requirements, seasonal variances in workload, and industry needs and requirements.
  • Must be able to act quickly to implement procedural changes in a fast-paced sometimes stressful environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
  • The ability to communicate effectively both written and oral coupled with exceptional interpersonal skills to foster and support a team environment.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to accurately perform arithmetic computations with an eye for detail.
  • Technologically oriented with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must be able to use, manage and/or grow the technologies that support the terminal and its operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Proficiency in Synapse AGS Clerk Console, Class 1 Railroad terminal operating systems (TSS, Oasis, ITOS, OBI, etc.)
