About the position

The Terminal Operations Controller at Avports LLC is responsible for overseeing daily air carrier operations at Tweed-New Haven Airport. This role involves coordinating terminal and ramp usage, managing gate assignments, and ensuring compliance with safety and security regulations. The position requires real-time decision-making and effective communication with airline and Air Traffic Control (ATC) staff to maintain safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the initial point of contact for daily air carrier operational matters.
• Coordinate usage of terminal facilities including ramp and deicing pad.
• Distribute daily gate assignments to ground handling providers.
• Adjust gate and aircraft parking assignments in real-time based on various factors.
• Confirm accuracy of flight information displays and correct discrepancies.
• Monitor terminal occupancy for compliance with safety requirements.
• Anticipate and communicate the need to activate operational contingency plans.
• Support the Airport Security Coordinator in meeting security requirements.
• Coordinate medical responses with mutual aid EMS.
• Document irregular events through incident report systems.
• Monitor access control and CCTV systems for unauthorized entries.
• Communicate on aviation frequencies regarding ramp operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with a focus in airport management preferred.
• Previous experience in airport operations or related field preferred.
• Ability to operate in a complex environment without direct supervision.
• Experience in airport emergency planning.
• Effective public communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to maintain it.
