About the position

The Squires Group is seeking an experienced Terraform Engineer to support a US Homeland Security program. This role involves engineering, optimizing, configuring, and monitoring Terraform Enterprise, contributing to the safety of flights in the United States through passenger screening. The position is based in Annapolis Junction, MD, with some remote work options available.

Responsibilities

• Customize Terraform Enterprise for managing infrastructure in two on-premises data centers.
• Improve Terraform plans and code using best practices.
• Design a high-availability setup for Terraform Enterprise across two data centers.
• Ensure Terraform state is regularly refreshed, and issues are resolved.
• Develop Sentinel policies to control unauthorized infrastructure changes.
• Create approval workflows for infrastructure updates.
• Offer guidance on infrastructure pipelines.
• Train and support teams in using Terraform and provide application support.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience
• 4+ years of experience in Terraform Enterprise or HCP Terraform
• 5+ years of experience on multiple OS platforms
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Knowledge of server virtualization technologies, such as VMware
• Familiarity with Microsoft and Red Hat Enterprise Linux server OS
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical information and requirements effectively to leadership and team members

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years hands on experience with Terraform
• Knowledge of LAN/WAN network infrastructure technologies
• Knowledge of automation using tools such as Chef, Ansible, Puppet, etc.
• Experience with using vCenter to manage VMware infrastructure
• Experience in SAFe Agile delivery
• Experience developing standard operating procedures and project documentation
