About the position

The Verisk Underwriting Sales Team is seeking a driven and entrepreneurially-minded Account Executive to lead the identification, management, and closure of sales opportunities within an assigned U.S. account territory. This territory encompasses a diverse range of accounts, from established insurers to emerging InsurTechs, as well as established producers including brokerages, MGAs, and agencies. This remote position allows for flexibility in working from home, but it also requires travel to customer locations and occasionally to the main office located in Jersey City, NJ. In this role, you will be a driven seller who thrives in a team selling environment, collaborating with Product Managers, Subject Matter Experts, Business Development Representatives, Executives, and others to ensure that our complex solutions fit seamlessly within our customers' workflows. You will need to be a strategic thinker with a structured approach to selling, possessing strong prospecting skills and the ability to articulate Verisk's value proposition across various operations within customer organizations. You will be accountable for the Verisk sales process, relentlessly qualifying deals and solving problems as they arise. Your responsibilities will include managing existing solution revenue from current customers, building a solid pipeline, and developing customized solution proposals and contractual agreements. You will also be expected to maintain and communicate sales territory activity, provide timely feedback on industry trends, and facilitate trusting relationships at all levels within your assigned accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, manage, and close sales opportunities within an assigned U.S. account territory.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Subject Matter Experts, and other team members to ensure solutions fit customer workflows.
  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to understand and build trust within assigned accounts.
  • Maintain and communicate sales territory activity, notes, updates, and opportunities with peers and leadership.
  • Develop customized solution proposals and contractual agreements for clients.
  • Provide timely feedback on industry trends and competitive intelligence to sales leadership and product management.
  • Facilitate and develop trusting relationships with key decision-makers within assigned accounts.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of exceeding annual new sales and revenue retention goals.
  • Experience in consultative sales and building long-lasting customer relationships.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Salesforce.com.
  • Ability to work effectively from a remote home office.
  • Strong prospecting skills and ability to sell based on business value.
  • Ability to understand customer decision-making processes and influence key decision-makers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Solid understanding and experience in Property Casualty Insurance.
  • Working knowledge of insurance functions, especially Underwriting, Marketing, Product Development, Actuarial, and Modeling.
  • Three years' experience in a complex sales environment with a successful track record.
  • Experience in insurance software, data, geospatial, and/or predictive modeling software solutions.
  • Experience facilitating contract processes.
  • Comfortability adopting new tools, especially Salesforce.com.
