About the position

The Territory Account Manager at Shermco Industries is responsible for managing and expanding sales within the Chicago, IL area, focusing on electrical testing, maintenance, repair, and engineering services. This role requires a strong background in B2B sales, particularly in the engineering or power-related industries, and involves direct interaction with key customers to build strategic relationships and achieve sales targets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide account management and sales targeting industrial, data center, hospitals, and electrical contractors.
  • Perform direct sales and business development activities to meet or exceed targeted sales goals.
  • Qualify prospective sales opportunities to determine which to pursue.
  • Accountable for attaining yearly multi-million dollar sales budgets.
  • Identify, develop, and implement sales strategies.
  • Assist in the preparation of estimates, sales proposals, and presentations.
  • Visit assigned accounts regularly to maintain strategic relationships and identify opportunities.
  • Maintain industry knowledge and improve technical knowledge based on market requirements.
  • Support key marketing activities such as road shows, national conferences, and trade shows.
  • Manage pricing and channel issues relating to competitive quotes and cross-selling conflicts.
  • Support accounts from sales to securing purchase orders and customer relations.
  • Perform job walks and act as a focal point between sales and production.
  • Support training events and trade shows.
  • Import sales activity into CRM.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent education & experience in Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of successful outside B2B sales experience, preferably in an engineering, industrial or heavy commercial industry.
  • Successful sales track record in a power-related industry, preferably in high-voltage electrical equipment testing & maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and highly motivated.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, written and oral presentation skills.
  • Solid understanding of profitability and financial measurements.
  • Strong sales skills including effective negotiation skills and ability to interact with key customer decision makers.
  • Ability to prospect new customers and forecast future business.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and consultative skills.
  • Basic computer skills with Excel, Word, Adobe, and Microsoft Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in electrical field services, field commissioning & acceptance testing.
  • Knowledge of Arc Flash, Coordination Studies, transient studies, load flow analysis, and general power engineering.
  • Experience with small scale electrical T&D or Substations construction projects.
