About the position

The Territory Manager at MMG Insurance Company is responsible for executing marketing functions within a designated territory, acting as a liaison between the company and agency staff. This role involves soliciting new business, maintaining existing business relationships, and achieving territory volume and profit objectives. The position requires leading training for agency personnel on company products and services, as well as managing relationships with agents to enhance profitability and adherence to company guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships with agencies in the assigned territory by developing and maintaining strong working relations.
  • Maintain consistent contact with all agents to enhance profitable business and ensure adherence to company guidelines.
  • Complete agency reviews, including agent performance and profitability statistics.
  • Develop effective business plans with agency owners to increase written premium volume.
  • Meet agreed-upon new business production objectives.
  • Manage overall territory results and individual agency performance.
  • Review agents' production figures monthly to identify operational issues and manage non-profitable agents.
  • Identify new growth opportunities within the market, including expanding market share and new agent recruitment.
  • Assist with strategic goals for Commercial Lines growth and product expansion.
  • Collaborate with underwriters to ensure growth objectives are met, including timely follow-up on new business quotes.
  • Communicate company messaging to agency personnel on business objectives, rate changes, and product updates.
  • Solicit and evaluate new agencies for potential quality business, and appoint qualified new agencies.
  • Complete and present required weekly and monthly territory reports for management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5-10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CIC, CPCU or similar designation preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills and ability to articulate positions professionally.
  • Customer service skills to manage difficult situations and respond promptly to needs.
  • Professionalism in interactions with others and ability to maintain a positive attitude.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.

  • CIC, CPCU or similar designation preferred.
