About the position

As a Territory Manager (Outside Sales) for US Foods, you will play a crucial role in fostering customer relationships within a team-based selling model. Your primary responsibility will be to manage deliveries according to the routing schedule set by the transportation department, addressing any issues that arise during the order process, such as delivery mis-picks, short loads, or stock-outs. You will also be responsible for communicating and collecting accounts receivable as necessary, collaborating with the credit department and clients to ensure all balances are collected based on approved credit terms. In this position, you will leverage various resources to assist with top penetration opportunities and the opening of new accounts. Developing new business will be a key focus, which involves identifying prospective customers through market intelligence databases, business directories, and leads from existing clients. Participation in organizations, clubs, trade shows, and conferences will also be part of your strategy to expand the customer base. You will need to stay informed about market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' offerings, sharing this information with customers as part of the value-added services provided by US Foods. Your role will require you to drive a motor vehicle to visit existing customers and prospects, ensuring product delivery. This may involve lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75 lbs. You will work closely with various internal teams, including the District Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, and the VP of Local Sales, as well as external relationships with customers and vendors. The work environment will frequently take you outside the office, where you will engage with customers in varying weather and temperature conditions.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 1+ year of sales experience preferred.
  • Foodservice industry, culinary, restaurant management, or hospitality experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships and cold call to develop new business.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
