About the position

The Territory Manager is responsible for driving sales and maintaining strong customer relationships within an assigned geographical area, specifically West Michigan, Northwest Indiana, and Illinois. This role focuses on aligning sales efforts with Kloeckner's business strategy to grow sales, address customer needs, and support the company's growth objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Service existing accounts and develop new business by planning and organizing daily work schedules to visit customers and seek new opportunities.
  • Investigate customer complaints and resolve them by developing solutions and making recommendations to management.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including inside sales and production, to ensure customer needs are met and problems are resolved quickly.
  • Submit regular activity and results reports, including daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly/annual territory analysis.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reading professional publications.
  • Keep detailed records of customer interactions, sales activities, and historical sales data for the territory.
  • Perform other tasks as needed to support sales efforts and Kloeckner's business goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Sales, or a related field, or Associate's degree with relevant work experience.
  • At least 1 year of relevant sales experience, preferably in account management or the metals industry.
  • Previous experience in the metals industry and basic product knowledge preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience using CRM software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities, effective listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpretation and analytical abilities to evaluate sales trends and customer data.
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and prioritize tasks effectively.
