About the position

The Territory Manager/Sales Representative at Walter Surface Technologies is responsible for promoting and selling premium quality products to industrial, manufacturing, construction, and MRO facilities. This role involves managing existing accounts, generating new distribution channels, and providing training and marketing support to distributors. The position requires a strong focus on customer engagement and product demonstrations, with a territory covering northern Minnesota and North Dakota.

Responsibilities

  • Manage existing account base to targeted growth plan and generate new distribution channels within their regions.
  • Drive end-user demand on new product offerings to the marketplace.
  • Build and maintain distribution network for the specific territory.
  • Efficiently manage all required administrative functions, such as weekly reports and business expense reporting.
  • Train distributors on products, programs, new products, safety, and pricing.
  • Demonstrate and train end users on products, applications, and benefits.
  • Create end-user orders and bring orders to distribution regularly.
  • Conduct product knowledge meetings, safety seminars, and product demonstrations to end users.
  • Organize, set up, and attend trade shows.
  • Utilize Walter sales tools and selling programs to increase product sales.
  • Support regional and national accounts.
  • Utilize Salesforce to manage opportunity pipeline.
  • Prepare for customer meetings and use analytics to determine meeting objectives.
  • Provide product sales forecast and business plan by category and strategic targets annually.
  • Work with inside sales team to follow up and close sales leads.
  • Strategically manage time to key accounts and growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with rep agency network where applicable.
  • Deliver high-quality presentations internally and externally.

Requirements

  • Outside sales account manager experience or similar.
  • Deep knowledge of sales channels including welding, safety, construction, industrial, and STAFDA.
  • Experience in the Metalwork, Tooling, or Drill Bit industry strongly preferred.
  • Ability to generate and cultivate new leads.
  • Ability to handle a high volume fast-paced environment and maintain composure.
  • Strong ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organization skills.
  • A positive 'can do' attitude.
  • Hands-on ability to demonstrate products on sales calls.
  • Experience using Salesforce.
  • Creative problem solver with quick thinking ability.
