The primary responsibility of this position is to prospect, identify, and secure opportunities by selling diversified services and equipment to railroad customers and industries that are rail-served within a dedicated territory. This role is crucial in driving business growth and ensuring customer satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for new customer attainment, account maintenance, and revenue growth in their assigned territory. This includes pursuing diversification opportunities and conducting thorough research to assess customer needs. Coordination with operations staff is essential to ensure that services are delivered in a timely, complete, and profitable manner. The role requires maintaining comprehensive knowledge of the marketplace, including the railroad and environmental services industries, as well as the economy and competition within the assigned territory. Additionally, the position involves driving business opportunities by completing bids, securing subcontractors, and providing pricing recommendations to the estimating team as needed for proposal completion. Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety regulations, is mandatory. The candidate will also support major business account plan strategies through collaboration with National Account Managers, Marketing, and operations. Maintaining bids, potential opportunities, sales funnel, and customer contact information within the CRM system is also a key responsibility. Other incidental and related duties may be required as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • New customer attainment, account maintenance, and growth of revenue in assigned territory; pursue diversification opportunities.
  • Research, measure and assess customer needs.
  • Coordinate sales activity with operations staff to ensure service is delivered in a timely, complete, and profitable manner.
  • Communicate with customers on job sites and other locations to ensure satisfaction.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the marketplace, including the railroad industry, environmental services industry, economy, and competition in assigned territory.
  • Drive business opportunities through completing bids, securing subcontractors, and providing pricing recommendations to Estimating as needed for proposal completion.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety regulations.
  • Support major business account plan strategies through collaboration with National Account Managers, Marketing, and operations.
  • Maintain bids, potential opportunities, sales funnel, and customer contact information within the CRM.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent educational background.
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Previous related outside sales experience in account management and growth.
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate technical information to all types of people, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to prospect sales and influence people.
  • Ability to negotiate and close business sales, demonstrating results.
  • Ability to coach and team build.
  • Proficient in Microsoft software including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Dynamics CRM.
