About the position

The EverGRO Cooperative is seeking a Territory Sales Manager - Agronomy who will be responsible for managing and developing sales relationships for a defined set of current and prospective customers within an assigned geographic territory. This role involves performing on-farm sales consultations to assess operational needs and provide tailored solutions through the sale of various products, including seed, fertilizer, crop protectants, and feed, along with all related services. The successful candidate will leverage their agricultural industry expertise, detailed knowledge of EverGRO products and services, and strong interpersonal skills to cultivate robust customer relationships and achieve sales goals. The essential job functions may vary based on merchandise mix, customer base, and business volume across EverGRO locations. Key responsibilities include conducting independent on-site sales consultations, managing sales calls and travel schedules to optimize customer engagement, and effectively communicating with customers to understand their operations. The Territory Sales Manager will provide technical assistance related to energy management and recommend solutions that best support the customer's operational needs. Additionally, the role requires managing resources to address customer inquiries and coordinating with Product Specialists, Buyers, Vendors, and management staff to resolve questions and concerns. The position also involves utilizing interpersonal skills and account management techniques to foster long-term business relationships, negotiating and executing sales agreements, and developing account strategies to ensure a robust sales pipeline. The Territory Sales Manager will promote the EverGRO brand and business philosophy positively within the community and participate in local meetings and industry-related organizations. Continuous professional development and adherence to safety regulations are also critical components of this role, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and EverGRO's Environmental Health and Safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent on-site sales consultations for current and prospective customers.
  • Manage sales calls and travel schedule to optimize customer engagement and achieve sales targets.
  • Effectively communicate with customers to understand their operations and provide technical assistance.
  • Recommend solutions that best support the customer's operational needs.
  • Manage resources needed to address customer inquiries and coordinate with various stakeholders.
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to foster positive, long-term business relationships with customers.
  • Negotiate and execute sales agreements, including pricing and delivery schedules.
  • Develop and manage account strategies to ensure a robust sales pipeline.
  • Promote the use of Crop Input Financing Programs as sales tools.
  • Plan and coordinate customer meetings and participate in local community meetings.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends and developments related to EverGRO products and services.
  • Perform work safely and comply with all safety regulations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • At least five years of professional working experience in agriculture, preferably in agronomy or related fields, or a Bachelor's Degree in agriculture, business, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of seed, fertilizer, crop protectant, and/or feed products and services.
  • Knowledge of best practices related to farming and crop production.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in business, sales, agronomy, agriculture, or a related field preferred.
  • More than five years of experience in agronomy preferred.
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator License or Certified Crop Advisor License may be required or obtained during employment.
