About the position

The Territory Sales Manager - Box Store Specialist at BlueLinx is responsible for maintaining and expanding sales within the Box Store customer segment in Western Washington and Oregon. This role requires a proactive approach to relationship building, focusing on both existing customers and new business opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess a 'hunter' mentality, driving growth through effective sales strategies and customer engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies new sales opportunities with new and existing customers.
  • Maximizes sales efforts by focusing on the largest and most profitable opportunities.
  • Improves profitability, product penetration, and product mix with all customers.
  • Qualifies sales opportunities through market/customer research and collaboration with inside sales representatives.
  • Develops sales solutions and competitive pricing strategies.
  • Communicates value propositions to customers.
  • Proposes sales solutions and reevaluates them as necessary.
  • Closes sales opportunities by gaining purchase orders and executing order fulfillment procedures.
  • Provides outstanding customer service and post-sales satisfaction to facilitate long-term relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience strongly preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience as a sales driver.
  • Ability to manage an established book of business and increase partnerships.
  • Knowledge of building materials is a plus.
  • Strong planning, organization, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Solid knowledge in account management, customer support, product knowledge, and sales support.
  • Self-motivated and driven individual with basic telephone skills and the ability to evaluate facts and recommend actions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant sales systems technology.

Nice-to-haves

  • MS/MBA degree is a plus.
  • Building material knowledge is a plus.
