About the position

The Territory Sales Manager for CAT (Northeast) is responsible for creating and implementing strategic plans to enhance Terex sales with a Genie National Account. This role involves building a revenue base by leading and facilitating the execution of the sales plan in collaboration with Genie Team Members. The program encompasses various elements including a communication plan, pricing strategies, marketing and sales support, training programs, and relationship management. The manager will be tasked with developing and executing a strategic plan for the account, which includes creating a sales plan aimed at growing sales in existing locations, expanding into new locations, and introducing new products to customers. In addition to sales and business development, the Territory Sales Manager will analyze the sales plan against actual results and make necessary adjustments. Conducting in-depth market research and competitor analysis will be crucial for informing strategic decisions. The manager will assist customers with business planning and the development of sales forecasts, working diligently to secure sales orders and achieve revenue and profit goals. Identifying new opportunities with the National Account and understanding the Genie Value proposition will be key components of this role. The manager must be adaptable, able to pivot strategies in response to changing market dynamics, and maintain relationships at all levels of national and international rental companies as well as within the Terex organization. Financial responsibility is a significant aspect of this position, as the manager will lead the development and implementation of innovative strategies that align with Genie Core values to drive sustainable growth. This includes creating and analyzing budgets for the account, managing expenses, and ensuring profitability goals are met. The manager will also solicit feedback from customers to ensure that Terex is meeting or exceeding their needs, and will be responsible for performance management and leadership, inspiring cross-functional teams to align with strategic objectives and ensuring flawless execution. Regular reporting to management regarding account performance will be required, along with building strong relationships with leaders in various Terex departments to facilitate customer requests.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the strategic plan for the account.
  • Create a Sales Plan to grow sales to existing locations and expand to new locations.
  • Manage activities and performance of assigned team members to achieve account performance goals.
  • Analyze the sales plan versus actual results and adjust efforts as necessary.
  • Conduct in-depth market research and competitor analysis to inform strategic decisions.
  • Assist customers with business planning and development of sales forecasts.
  • Identify potential new opportunities with the National Account.
  • Adapt and pivot strategies in response to changing market dynamics.
  • Manage relationships at all levels of national and international rental companies.
  • Work closely with TFS to develop long-term financing strategies.
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of business development including training, marketing, and sales support.
  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative strategies for profitable growth.
  • Create and analyze budgets for the account and manage expenses accordingly.
  • Ensure deals are structured to maintain profitability goals and pricing agreements.
  • Solicit feedback from customers to ensure their needs are met.
  • Measure and communicate the impact of strategic initiatives to stakeholders and Senior Leadership.
  • Inspire and motivate cross-functional teams to align with strategic objectives.
  • Collect data and provide regular reports to management regarding account performance.

Requirements

  • Advanced technical knowledge of the products.
  • Advanced knowledge of new business development, product marketing, and sales principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for relationship building and presentations.
  • Advanced written communication skills for proposals and business correspondence.
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience in advanced deal structures.
  • Expert understanding of customer service, manufacturing, engineering, and product support processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Lean philosophy and its application.
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Salesforce.
  • Strong time and territory management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Genie and Terex products.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in outside sales and/or Genie employment.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or equivalent.
