About the position

The Territory Sales Manager (TSM) role at Mars Wrigley is a pivotal entry point into the sales organization, specifically designed for individuals who are eager to drive sales performance within a defined geographic territory. This position is based in Cincinnati, OH, covering areas including Downtown, Mt. Healthy, and Covington, KY. The TSM is tasked with achieving sales Key Performance Indicator (KPI) objectives assigned by the company, which involves executing company strategies and priorities at the retail level to enhance channel and customer Gross Sales Value (GSV). The role demands a high level of integrity and the ability to work independently without direct supervision, as individual territory performance is closely monitored and reported daily. This is an individual contributor role, emphasizing the importance of self-motivation and accountability in achieving sales targets. In this role, the TSM will leverage fact-based selling tools and technology to effectively communicate the company's strategic focus areas to Key Decision Makers (KDM). Responsibilities include customizing and implementing advanced selling strategies to secure orders and drive sustainable results, thereby increasing market share and gross sales for both the company and its customers. The TSM will also be responsible for measuring and evaluating specific territory business metrics, identifying trends, and providing solutions to address any gaps in performance. Collaboration with third-party providers for merchandising execution and preparation of materials for sales presentations are also key components of the job. The TSM will participate in team conference calls, training sessions, and sales meetings, ensuring alignment with company objectives and sharing best practices with peers. The position also includes managing a storage facility, overseeing product rotation, inventory allocation, and supplies efficiently. Overall, the TSM role is integral to the success of Mars Wrigley’s sales initiatives, requiring a proactive approach to territory management and customer engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage fact-based selling tools and technology to sell the company's strategic focus areas and priorities to Key Decision Makers (KDM).
  • Customize and implement advanced selling tools and fact-based selling strategies to achieve orders and sustainable results.
  • Sell in contracts to support delivery of distribution, shelving, and merchandising objectives, enforcing compliance throughout the year.
  • Measure and evaluate specific territory business metrics (KPI's, trends, gaps/opportunities) and provide solutions where gaps exist.
  • Partner with third-party providers to execute merchandising required after sales initiatives are sold in.
  • Prepare materials for all in-store and HQ sales presentations using advanced sales tools.
  • Leverage data to deliver channel/retailer specific Seasonal sell-thru targets.
  • Participate in team conference calls, training, and attend all sales meetings.
  • Manage storage facility and product rotation, inventory allocation, and supplies efficiently.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or HS Diploma with equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to lift 40lbs.
  • Able to sit, stand, and/or drive for long periods, frequently bend, kneel, and stoop.
  • Ability to walk for a minimum of 6 ½ hours per day.
  • Demonstrate ability to work remotely.
  • Subject to outside weather conditions and changing climates.
  • Ability to travel overnight if required.

Nice-to-haves

  • A bachelor's degree and significant experience in field sales and territory management.
  • 2+ years of selling experience.
  • Prior Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and/or retail sales experience.
  • Prior selling experience in the convenience, grocery, or Walmart channels.
