About the position

As a Territory Sales Manager for Fire Sprinkler systems at Johnson Controls, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales growth within your assigned territory. This strategic account position requires you to develop and maintain strong relationships with contractor customers and supply chain partners, ensuring that you are a credible and trusted resource within the industry. You will report directly to the Area Sales Director of the western region, collaborating closely with peers to achieve shared goals and objectives. Your primary responsibility will be to achieve yearly revenue targets and goals, which will involve actively engaging with the local contractor community. You will participate in industry associations to enhance your visibility and credibility, while also developing account goals and business plans that align with the company's overall channel strategy. Monitoring and managing pricing strategies to reflect current market conditions will be essential, as will providing accurate business forecasts and participating in team calls with both internal and external partners. In addition to sales growth, you will oversee customer relationships, focusing on profitability, customer service, issue resolution, and the introduction of new products. You will coordinate training sessions for your customer base and ensure that new product ideas are effectively communicated to product management. Your role will require you to maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record, as you will need to travel within your assigned territory to meet with clients and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve yearly revenue targets & goals.
  • Effectively call on the local contractor community within the designated territory.
  • Be an active participant in industry associations.
  • Develop account goals and business plans for key and target customers that align with the company's overall channel strategy.
  • Monitor and manage price strategy to align with current market conditions.
  • Provide business forecasts and participate in team calls both internally and with channel partners.
  • Ensure new products are introduced effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure new product ideas are brought to product management.
  • Coordinate training at all levels for the customer base.
  • Enter all sales activities within Salesforce.
  • Must live within the assigned territory.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license, with a clean driving record.

Requirements

  • High energy, self-starter with the ability to represent the company with professionalism.
  • Fire sprinkler, fire suppression, or plumbing/HVAC experience is preferred.
  • Political savvy across the customer organization and company.
  • Effective communication with Area Sales Director & internal and external business partners.
  • Strong business acumen & ability to adapt to customer needs.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Team player who encourages collaboration across the region.
  • Strong leadership characteristics.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written, including proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
