About the position

The Territory Sales Manager position is a critical role within a fourth-generation family business that operates five distinct businesses, primarily focusing on meat and seafood distribution. This company serves hotels, restaurants, and other institutions in the greater Reno/Tahoe area and nationally, delivering a premium full line of meat and seafood six days a week to over 200 customers. As a licensed Certified Angus Beef distributor, the company prides itself on quality and customer satisfaction. The Territory Sales Manager will be responsible for managing the Reno/Tahoe region, leading a team of seven sales representatives, and driving the company's regional sales efforts. This role requires a hands-on approach to sales processes, product knowledge, promotional activities, and training and development of the sales team. The manager will focus on customer engagement, strategic sales growth initiatives, and overseeing sales reporting activities and action plans to drive results. Additionally, the position involves preparing annual regional sales budgets and quarterly forecasts, meeting with key customers, and ensuring effective communication with procurement, production, shipping, and finance departments to meet customer satisfaction goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Reno / Tahoe Region with a team of 7 sales reps leading the processes and people for the company's regional sales efforts.
  • Lead the hands-on sales processes, product knowledge, product offerings, promotional activities, ERP Sales functions, and training and development.
  • Focus on customer and sales engagement, strategic sales growth initiatives, and oversee the sales reporting activities and weekly action plans for driving results.
  • Prepare annual regional sales budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Meet with key customers and regional clients, ensuring effective communication with procurement, production, shipping, and finance to meet customer satisfaction.
  • Lead weekly territory sales calls focusing on successes, opportunities, and action plans.
  • Manage quarterly sales team member reviews and review key sales KPI data timely, assisting the sales team with action plans.
  • Lead recruiting efforts for regional sales positions, training, and onboarding.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in sales of protein products; beef, chicken, pork, and specialty meats.
  • 5+ years of experience leading and supervising a sales team.
  • Experience in sales to hospitality, food service, and food distributors.
  • Experience in preparing annual regional sales budgets and quarterly forecasts.
  • Experience working with CRM software (Salesforce.com or other comparable system).
  • Proficiency in MS Suite.

Benefits

  • Base Salary: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00
  • Paid quarterly bonus based on achieved KPI (sales volume, customer acquisition, sales turnover, CRM use)
  • Total Earnings: $130,000.00 - $200,000.00
