About the position

The Territory Sales Manager for Fremont Insurance is a pivotal role focused on the management, development, and profitability of an assigned book of business within the State of Wisconsin. This position is essential for expanding the company's commercial distribution, which includes products such as Commercial Package, Commercial Auto, and Workers Compensation. The Territory Sales Manager will analyze market potential and the quality of the assigned book of business to identify potential problems and areas for improvement and growth. This involves a thorough analysis of competitor rates through direct contact with independent agents, ensuring that Fremont Insurance remains competitive in the market. In this role, the manager will be responsible for developing and implementing annual business plans and setting goals to service and retain existing insureds, increase market penetration, and influence the quality of business. Training independent agents on Fremont products is a key responsibility, ensuring that agents are well-informed about the products and procedures. The manager will also develop and communicate annual performance goals, analyze and monitor independent agent performance, and provide regular feedback to enhance productivity. Additionally, the Territory Sales Manager will identify book transfer opportunities, negotiate terms and conditions, and lead the team in gathering information while monitoring the progress of book transfers, incentives, and agent production. The role requires collaboration with upper management to develop solutions that ease the process for the Independent Insurance Agency Channel, ensuring adherence to corporate controls and state insurance regulations. The manager will negotiate annual sales plans with independent agents to achieve premium and loss experience targets, while also supporting market development and agency production activities, including the recruitment of new agency appointments and ongoing validation of training programs to ensure successful agency producers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop an assigned book of business in Wisconsin.
  • Analyze market potential and quality of the assigned book of business.
  • Analyze competitor rates via contacted independent agents.
  • Manage, evaluate, and negotiate with independent agencies for profitable premium growth.
  • Develop and implement annual business plans and goal setting.
  • Train independent agents on Fremont products and procedures.
  • Develop and communicate annual performance goals.
  • Analyze and monitor independent agent performance and provide feedback.
  • Identify book transfer opportunities and negotiate terms and conditions.
  • Assist upper management in developing solutions for the Independent Insurance Agency Channel.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate controls and state insurance regulations.
  • Negotiate annual sales plans with independent agents.
  • Support market development and agency production activities, including recruitment of new agency appointments.

Requirements

  • College level coursework in Business, Marketing, Insurance or related field.
  • Successful completion of appropriate State Property & Casualty License.
  • Possession of a valid State driver's license.
  • Five years of experience in sales management or direct sales in insurance or related fields.
  • Market development experience, including analyzing territories and developing strategic business plans.
  • Leadership experience in recruiting, coaching, and mentoring agency producers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and share complex information clearly.
  • Ability to achieve and maintain insurance and customer service goals as defined by management.
  • Experience in prospecting and developing new sales opportunities.
  • Ability to interpret reports to increase agent performance.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely for travel to various locations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior experience within sales, marketing, and distribution with commercial independent agents in Wisconsin.
  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial production or desk underwriting.
