The primary purpose of the Territory Manager position at US Foods is to develop and manage relationships with both established and new customers by selling food and non-food items to achieve sales and profitability goals. The Territory Manager will leverage various resources to assist with top penetration opportunities and the opening of new accounts. In this position, the Territory Manager will be the primary owner of customer relationships, responsible for managing deliveries according to the routing schedule published by the transportation department. They will troubleshoot any issues that arise during the order process, such as delivery mis-picks, short loads, or stock-outs. Additionally, the Territory Manager will communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary, working closely with the credit department and clients to ensure all balances due are collected based on approved credit terms. The role also involves developing new business by identifying prospective customers through market intelligence databases, business directories, and leads from existing clients. Participation in organizations, clubs, trade shows, and conferences is also encouraged to expand the customer base. The Territory Manager must stay informed about market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' offerings, sharing this information with customers as part of the value-added services provided. This position requires driving a motor vehicle to visit existing customers and prospects, which may involve lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75 lbs.
