About the position

The Territory Sales Manager will be responsible for managing sales in designated areas of New York, specifically from Manhattan to Putnam and Orange Counties. This role involves direct sales to retailers, focusing on the housewares or gift channel, and requires a self-motivated individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. The position is commission-based with various benefits, including health insurance and a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Represent and sell all manufacturers of The Northeast Group according to established policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with customers daily to ensure they have all the information needed to make buying decisions.
  • Update manufacturer sales managers consistently on territory sales and customer details.
  • Identify and assess customer needs to achieve satisfaction.
  • Direct requests and unresolved issues to the sales team or management.
  • Search for new customers in various classes of trade.
  • Partner with other sales team members to meet and exceed expectations.
  • Maintain product knowledge while servicing customers and improve through training.
  • Participate in weekly company conference calls to update the sales team.
  • Provide sales information through reports and feedback for the territory when requested by management.
  • Maintain company samples in working order for customer presentations.
  • Keep records of customer interactions and transactions in the company CRM/Ordering system.
  • Provide and maintain the highest level of Quality, Morals and Ethics while conducting business.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years experience selling directly to retailers, preferably in the housewares or gift channel.
  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and demonstrate adaptability/flexibility.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter who is highly motivated and a team player.
  • Ability to work autonomously and take initiatives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and iPad applications.
  • Strong time management skills.
