About the position

The primary purpose of the Territory Sales Manager position is to develop and manage both established and new customer relationships by selling food and non-food items to achieve sales and profitability goals. This role is crucial in fostering customer relationships and engaging them in value-added activities. The Territory Sales Manager will leverage various resources to assist with top penetration opportunities and the opening of new accounts. US Foods provides a comprehensive training program for this position, ensuring that the Territory Manager is well-equipped to succeed in their role. Essential duties include managing deliveries according to the routing schedule published by the transportation department, troubleshooting any issues that arise during the order process, and communicating with the credit department to collect accounts receivable as necessary. The Territory Sales Manager will also be responsible for developing new business by identifying prospective customers through market intelligence databases, business directories, and leads from existing clients. Participation in organizations, clubs, trade shows, and conferences is also encouraged to expand the customer base. The role requires a deep understanding of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' offerings, which will be shared with customers as part of the value-added services provided. The Territory Sales Manager will drive to existing customers and prospects to ensure product delivery, which may involve lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75 lbs. This position does not have any direct reports, but it requires collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders, including the District Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager, and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Foster the customer relationship in a team-based selling model.
  • Manage deliveries to the routing schedule published by the transportation department; troubleshoot any problems that occur during the order process.
  • Communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary, working with the credit department and client; collect all balances due based on approved credit terms.
  • Leverage other resources to assist with top penetration opportunities and new accounts opening.
  • Develop new business; identify prospective customers by utilizing market intelligence databases, business directories, and leads from existing clients.
  • Know the market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales; share information with customers as part of value-added services provided.
  • Drive motor vehicle to existing customers and prospects to ensure product delivery, which may include lifting/carrying up to 75lbs.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of sales experience preferred.
  • Foodservice industry/culinary/restaurant management/hospitality experience preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships and cold call to develop new business.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Competitive spirit and results-driven mentality.
  • Problem-solving ability, organization, and negotiation skills.
  • Team-up mentality to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient computer skills; Microsoft Office products - Experience using Customer relationship management tools preferred (i.e., Salesforce).
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
