About the position

The Territory Sales Manager for Northwest Oregon at BlueLinx is responsible for managing existing customer relationships while actively seeking new sales opportunities in the region. This role requires a proactive 'hunter' mentality to drive growth and enhance relationships with clients. The position offers a solid base salary complemented by a commission structure, making it an attractive opportunity for motivated sales professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies new sales opportunities with new and existing customers.
  • Maximizes sales efforts by focusing on the largest and most profitable opportunities.
  • Improves profitability, product penetration, and product mix with all customers.
  • Qualifies sales opportunities through market/customer research and collaboration with inside sales representatives.
  • Develops sales solutions and competitive pricing strategies.
  • Communicates value propositions to customers.
  • Proposes sales solutions and reevaluates them as necessary.
  • Closes sales opportunities by gaining purchase orders and executing order fulfillment procedures.
  • Provides outstanding customer service and post-sales satisfaction to facilitate long-term relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience strongly preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience as a sales driver.
  • Ability to manage an established book of business and increase partnerships.
  • Knowledge of building materials is a plus.
  • Strong planning, organization, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in account management, scheduling, customer support, product knowledge, and sales support.
  • Basic telephone skills with the ability to identify key issues and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and relevant sales systems technology.

Nice-to-haves

  • MS/MBA degree is a plus.
  • Building material knowledge is a plus.
