The primary purpose of the Territory Sales Manager position is to develop and manage both established and new customer relationships by selling food and non-food items to achieve sales and profitability goals. This role is crucial in fostering customer relationships through a team-based selling model, ensuring that the needs of the customers are met while also driving sales growth. The Territory Sales Manager will be responsible for leveraging various resources to assist with top penetration opportunities and the opening of new accounts, thereby expanding the company's market presence. In this role, the Territory Sales Manager will manage deliveries according to the routing schedule provided by the transportation department, troubleshooting any issues that arise during the order process, such as delivery mis-picks, short loads, or stock-outs. Effective communication and collection of accounts receivable will also be necessary, working closely with the credit department and clients to ensure all balances due are collected based on approved credit terms. The position requires the development of new business by identifying prospective customers through market intelligence databases, business directories, and leads from existing clients. Participation in organizations, clubs, trade shows, and conferences will also be part of the responsibilities to enhance networking and business opportunities. The Territory Sales Manager must stay informed about market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' offerings, sharing this information with customers as part of the value-added services provided. Additionally, the role involves driving to existing customers and prospects to ensure product delivery, which may require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75 lbs. The work environment is dynamic, frequently requiring the manager to be outside the office, visiting customers in varying weather and temperature conditions.
