About the position

The Territory Sales Manager for Microbial Protection at Ashland Specialty Ingredients is responsible for driving sustainable and profitable growth within the Personal Care Business Unit. This role involves engaging with existing and new customers, monitoring commercial projects, and identifying new business opportunities while maintaining strong partnerships and expert knowledge in health and beauty trends, particularly in cosmetic preservatives.

Responsibilities

  • Generating sustainable and profitable growth for the Microbial Protection Business within the Business Unit Personal Care.
  • Presenting, promoting and selling products to existing and new customers within a defined territory.
  • Monitoring and reporting on progress of commercial projects.
  • Identifying new business opportunities including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, and services.
  • Developing strong partnerships with prospective customers, existing clients, market influencers, and other relevant partners to generate new leads and brand recognition.
  • Sustaining and growing the customer base by nurturing relationships within an assigned territory.
  • Maintaining expert knowledge of health and beauty trends, especially in the field of cosmetic preservatives.
  • Collaborating with all applicable Ashland departments to ensure transparency and alignment.
  • Introducing new products, services, and ingredients.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree preferably in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of proven working experience as a sales manager, business development manager, or other relevant role in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, life science or specialty chemical industries OR 5-7 years as a formulation chemist/cosmetic microbiologist.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Home base on East Coast or US based with a willingness to relocate.
  • Willingness to travel (approx. 40-50%).

  • Working experience in the field of cosmetic preservatives.
  • Know how in research, microbiology or product development.
