About the position

The Territory Sales Manager position at US Foods is primarily focused on developing and managing relationships with both established and new customers. The role involves selling a variety of food and non-food items to meet sales and profitability goals. As the primary owner of customer relationships, the Territory Sales Manager is responsible for engaging customers in value-added activities and leveraging available resources to maximize penetration opportunities and facilitate the opening of new accounts. This position is crucial in ensuring that the company meets its sales targets while providing exceptional service to its clients. In this role, the Territory Sales Manager will foster customer relationships through a team-based selling model. This includes managing deliveries according to the routing schedule set by the transportation department and troubleshooting any issues that arise during the order process, such as delivery mis-picks, short loads, or stock-outs. The manager will also be responsible for communicating and collecting accounts receivable as necessary, working closely with the credit department and clients to ensure all balances due are collected based on approved credit terms. The Territory Sales Manager will actively develop new business by identifying prospective customers through market intelligence databases, business directories, and leads from existing clients. Participation in organizations, clubs, trade shows, and conferences is also expected to enhance networking opportunities. A thorough understanding of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' offerings is essential, as this information will be shared with customers as part of the value-added services provided by US Foods. The role requires driving a motor vehicle to visit existing customers and prospects, which may involve lifting and carrying items weighing up to 75 lbs. The work environment is dynamic, frequently requiring the manager to operate outside the office in varying weather and temperature conditions, ensuring that customer needs are met effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 1+ year of sales experience preferred.
