About the position

The Territory Sales Manager for Portable Gas Detection at Teledyne is responsible for promoting and growing the portable gas detection portfolio within the gas utility market, specifically in the West Coast USA region. This home office-based position involves direct sales to end users, managing the tender process, and building strong relationships with customers and industry associations. The role requires a deep understanding of the product portfolio and the ability to meet sales targets through effective business development strategies.

Responsibilities

• Develop an in-depth knowledge of the portable gas detection product portfolio through training programs.
• Achieve agreed sales targets by identifying sales opportunities in new and existing markets.
• Build strong business relationships with end users and industry associations in the gas utility market.
• Manage the tender process, including providing quotes and relevant documents.
• Identify key end user accounts and implement a sales plan to achieve sales growth.
• Meet regularly with customers to understand their evolving business needs.
• Prepare customer-specific business plans.
• Attend sales meetings and exhibitions in AMER and internationally.
• Conduct sales presentations, customer training, and seminars.
• Utilize CRM, ERP, and other IT tools for customer information and reporting.
• Collaborate with internal departments such as Marketing, Inside Sales, and Product Management.
• Attend conferences and professional association meetings to promote product solutions.
• Monitor and report on market and competitor activities.

Requirements

• Detailed knowledge of portable gas detection products and applications in the gas utility industry.
• Experience managing the full tender process in the public sector/gas utility industry.
• Knowledge of competitive products and industry trends.
• Basic knowledge to provide first level of service support to customers.
• Professional field sales record of 5+ years with a proven track record.
• Ability to train and teach internal and external customers.
• Effective communication skills at all levels.
• Ability to create and maintain effective customer networks.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in business development and lead qualification.
• Degree Level qualification in sales/engineering/business or associated subject.
