About the position

As a Territory Sales Manager (TSM) - Residential at Simpson Strong-Tie, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of Residential sales within the Oregon territory. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate and contribute to the overall branch and company efforts aimed at profitably expanding our business. The Residential market segment includes all projects, specifiers, contractors, and distribution channels that service both single-family and multi-family residential markets. You will be tasked with selling all Simpson product lines, tailoring your approach based on customer needs, competitive landscape, and market potential. Additionally, you will help formulate and execute the business strategy for your territory. In this role, you will supervise Dealer Sales Representatives, focusing on leadership and employee development. This includes overseeing their weekly activities and assisting them in meeting their goals and objectives. You will also lead and participate in training sessions and workshops, which will require you to handle scheduling, promotion, setup, presentation, and teardown, while providing constructive feedback for improvement. Collaboration with Regional Sales Managers, Product Management, Marketing, and other Territory Sales Managers will be essential to develop and coordinate effective sales strategies and programs. You will also be responsible for communicating market trends and field intelligence to management and operations to ensure customer satisfaction. Your daily activities will involve driving demand and growing sales of all Simpson product lines in the defined marketplace. This includes being active on job sites, conducting sales calls, identifying opportunities, and providing hands-on demonstrations and training. You will analyze industry and market needs to develop appropriate strategies, forecast territory demand, and provide necessary support to customers and the company. Building and maintaining key relationships with customers and managing supply chain relationships with channel partners will be crucial. You will also promote Simpson Strong-Tie as an industry partner and potential employer by participating in trade shows, association meetings, and providing educational opportunities throughout your territory.

Responsibilities

  • Drive demand and grow sales of all Simpson product lines in the defined marketplace, including active job site engagement and sales calls.
  • Coach, train, and manage the professional development of Dealer Sales Representatives, providing oversight and maintaining performance through goal setting.
  • Develop and maintain key relationships with customers and manage supply chain relationships with channel partners, providing ongoing training and technical support.
  • Promote Simpson Strong-Tie as an industry partner and potential employer by participating in trade shows and providing educational opportunities.
  • Manage consistent CRM usage, business planning, and timely submission of expense reports, along with maintenance of company-owned vehicles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of industry experience and/or training, with fluency in residential construction practices and distribution channels.
  • Strong working knowledge of project workflow from architect/engineer to contractor.
  • Sales and account management experience with a proven track record of sales/profit growth preferred.
  • 2-3 years of management experience with a proven track record of leading direct reports and employee development.
