About the position

The Territory Sales Manager for the Southeast at The Shyft Group is responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships with existing accounts while establishing new ones. This role focuses on building long-term partnerships with distributors, truck dealers, and fleet customers across several states, ensuring customer satisfaction and driving sales growth through effective account management and strategic outreach.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain control over assigned territories by developing strong customer relationships.
  • Manage dealer and fleet accounts, building additional business through up-selling to current customers.
  • Travel weekly to new prospects and existing distributor accounts.
  • Participate in trade shows, company open houses, and other events to meet with clients and sell new products.
  • Prepare sales quotes for customers.
  • Work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, and operations to configure best-in-class solutions for customers.
  • Follow up with production regarding the status of open orders.
  • Provide customers with marketing sales tools and product training.
  • Handle customer complaints and warranty issues promptly and carefully.
  • Meet regularly with end users and large fleet accounts to spec out vehicles and bodies.
  • Call aftermarket vendors to obtain specifications and pricing information for quotations.
  • Partner with the transportation department to ensure deliveries are communicated effectively.
  • Support the release and assignment of chassis to order specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers to build and prepare custom quotes and drawings for customers.
  • Assist with various marketing projects.
  • Attend distributor and fleet customer events for training purposes.
  • Track sales through CRM.
  • Work in partnership with Inside Sales.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in business or technical field, or equivalent sales experience.
  • Successful expertise working in an Outside Sales Representative / Territory Manager capacity.
  • Knowledge of work truck body applications, equipment, and accessories.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with CRM systems.
  • Willingness to learn, teach, and be a team player.
  • A track record of exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to travel 50% or more.
