About the position

As the Territory Sales Manager - Specialty at Sumitomo Pharma America (SMPA), you will play a pivotal role in representing our company to customers in the Washington, DC territory. This position is designed for a dynamic and highly motivated individual who is ready to take ownership of their territory and drive sales performance. You will be responsible for achieving and exceeding sales objectives while growing market share in a competitive landscape. Your success will be built on establishing deep and meaningful business relationships, leveraging your clinical and market expertise to close new business in both new and existing accounts. In this role, you will utilize your exceptional clinical knowledge and understanding of the evolving healthcare landscape to support your sales results. This includes thoughtful planning, purposeful action, and the compliant use of available resources. You will assess and analyze product and competitor trends, providing insights that will inform your sales strategy. Collaboration with team members is essential, as you will need to communicate candidly and constructively to ensure alignment and success across the team. Travel is a key component of this position, as you will be required to travel throughout the territory, which may include overnight stays and meetings that extend over several days. This may occasionally involve working during evenings or weekends. Your ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and comply with customer institution access requirements will be critical to your success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Washington, DC Territory
  • Establish deep and meaningful business relationships based on clinical and market expertise
  • Increase market share by closing new business in both new and existing accounts
  • Support sales results with clinical expertise and understanding of the healthcare landscape
  • Assess and analyze product/competitor trends and market dynamics
  • Collaborate and communicate constructively with team members
  • Complete all administrative tasks in a timely, accurate, and compliant manner
  • Travel throughout the territory as required, including overnight stays

Requirements

  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience
  • Demonstrated mastery of product and disease state knowledge
  • Proven track record of top-ranked sales performance, ideally in the top 25% of the nation
  • Ability to analyze trends and market dynamics to provide sales strategy recommendations
  • Strong work ethic and professional presence
  • Ability to comply with customer institution access requirements
  • Valid and current driver's license

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working within Urology
  • Experience with a pharmaceutical launch
  • Knowledge of market access formulary positioning, including pull-through and push-through
