About the position

As a member of the Johnson Controls team, you will play a crucial role in the sales and management of fire suppression products across the regions of Arizona, Nevada, and California. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about fire safety and have a strong sales background. You will be responsible for actively selling to, managing, and training accounts within your assigned territory. Your primary focus will be to support existing distribution channels while also establishing new ones, ensuring that you work closely with end-users and industry decision-makers to communicate the features and benefits of our products. In this role, you will need to align with cross-functional teams to effectively manage your territory. This includes defining a sales strategy and continuously assessing market and distribution needs. You will be responsible for fire suppression sales across various systems, including Vehicle Systems, Restaurant Systems, Portables, and Industrial Systems. Your ability to analyze new business opportunities, develop sales plans, and execute action steps will be essential in acquiring new business that aligns with the company's growth objectives. You will also coordinate with contractors and facility owners to define product specifications, ensuring that our products are accepted by both owners and distributors. Presenting our products to customers will be a key part of your role, as you will need to demonstrate the value-added proposition attached to our offerings and achieve sales closures that satisfy both the customer and Johnson Controls. Building and maintaining relationships with customers at all levels will be vital for account retention, and you will need to work cross-functionally within the organization to support territory needs effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Actively sell to, manage, and train accounts within assigned regions (Arizona, Nevada, and California).
  • Support existing and establish new distribution in assigned territory.
  • Work with end-users and industry decision-makers regarding product features and benefits.
  • Align with cross-functional teams to effectively manage the territory.
  • Define a sales strategy and assess market and distribution needs.
  • Responsible for fire suppression sales for Vehicle Systems, Restaurant Systems, Portables, and Industrial Systems.
  • Analyze new business opportunities and develop sales plans.
  • Coordinate with contractors and facility owners to define product specifications.
  • Present products to customers to achieve acceptance and sales closures.
  • Develop annual, quarterly, monthly, and weekly plans for business growth.
  • Share marketing intelligence with other sales teams to grow sales.
  • Coordinate new and repeat sales through distribution to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers to ensure account retention.
  • Work cross-functionally to support territory needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-4 years sales experience in Fire Suppression, Fire Alarm or Fire Protection industry.
  • Proficient in MS Office Platforms: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership characteristics with a self-starter attitude.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to regularly travel within the assigned territory.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Experience managing external distribution.
  • Strong technical aptitude, preferably in Fire Suppression Products.
  • Experience using SalesForce to track and measure accounts.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
