In this role, you will be responsible for prospecting new business and maximizing growth opportunities within targeted accounts. Your primary focus will be on increasing revenue by effectively building consensus, gaining commitments, and closing business deals. To succeed, you must maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in industry-related associations and events. You will conduct competitive market intelligence, analyze market positioning, and adjust strategies to enhance market leadership. Additionally, you will forecast sales trends and communicate competitive situations to ensure the company remains at the forefront of the industry. Maintaining and enhancing sales positions with existing customers is crucial, as is setting up and maintaining routine customer contact. You will also be involved in strategic business plan development and execution, working closely with the Inside Sales Representative to meet customer requirements and addressing any quality issues that may arise. Travel within the Illinois area will be required as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prospecting for new business and maximizing growth opportunities.
  • Increasing revenue in targeted accounts.

  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge through workshops and publications.
  • Conducting competitive market intelligence and adjusting positioning.
  • Forecasting sales trends and communicating competitive situations.
  • Maintaining and enhancing sales position with existing customers.
  • Setting up and maintaining routine customer contact.
  • Developing and executing strategic business plans.
  • Interacting with Inside Sales Representative to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Addressing customer quality issues as needed.
  • Traveling as needed in the Illinois area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or 5+ years of management experience in steel service center sales.
  • 3 years of outside selling experience in the structural steel industry.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Basic understanding of metallurgical terminology.
  • Confident in computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
  • Must be available to commute to facility 1-2 times per week.
