About the position

Novo Building Products is an industry-leading manufacturer and distributor of mouldings, stair parts, doors, and specialty building products. The Territory Sales Manager position is responsible for developing Novo's business with delegated accounts in a specific market or geography. This role involves starting, developing, and enhancing customer relationships while driving the sales process to achieve positive sales and margin results that meet or exceed sales objectives. The Territory Sales Manager will work to retain current business, convert new customers, and identify future opportunities for continuous market share growth. The essential responsibilities of this position include meeting and exceeding sales targets, executing service models and overall strategies to optimize the penetration of Novo's products, and striving to drive customer satisfaction. The manager will establish credibility with pro sales accounts and stakeholders, develop and maintain product and industry expertise, and address customer problems or complaints promptly. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with Account Managers to grow assigned sales geography, process customer orders, and assist in training new personnel. The Territory Sales Manager will also be involved in providing market intelligence on pricing and customer needs, interacting cooperatively with other departments, and participating in sales meetings, product training, seminars, and trade shows. This position is crucial for ensuring that Novo's high standards of professionalism and integrity are maintained while achieving overall company goals.

Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed sales targets; achieve maximum sales in assigned territories through pro sales channels.
  • Execute our service model and overall strategies to optimize the penetration of Novo's products in the specific geography.
  • Drive customer satisfaction and increase combined overall sales volume and profit margins for the pro sales market segments.
  • Maintain current business and develop new business with existing accounts and new customers.
  • Establish credibility and respect with the pro sales account and stakeholders by conducting all business consistent with Novo's Vision, Values, and Strategies.
  • Develop and maintain product and industry expertise in an assigned specialty area to support departmental efforts.
  • Promptly address customer problems/complaints or forward them to the appropriate person to manage/resolve the issue.
  • Inform purchasing of large upcoming sales and/or out-of-stock concerns.
  • Provide and report market intelligence on pricing and/or customer needs/special requests to Novo.
  • Interact cooperatively with other departments as well as with outside vendors, customers, and potential customers.
  • Proactively partner and collaborate with the Account Managers to grow the assigned sales geography.
  • Properly cover assigned territories to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Attain monthly budgeted sales figures as well as the projection of customer sales and gross margins.
  • Process credits/returns and follow up on reports ensuring the paperwork is complete and accurate.
  • Follow established procedures for placing customer orders and servicing customers.
  • Assist in training new personnel, demonstrating a high standard of teamwork and professionalism.
  • Provide expertise and execution of take-offs and quotes of millwork packages.
  • Work closely with the logistics team to ensure optimized truck runs with 100% fill rates.
  • Assist in collecting overdue receivables.
  • Become active with lumber/building material associations in assigned territory.
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings, product and service training, seminars, and trade shows.

Requirements

  • Previous sales experience with successful achievement of increasing revenue through current customers and developing new customer base.
  • Valid un-restricted driver's license with a proven good driving record.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the flexibility to work 50 hours per five-day work week and travel overnight.
  • Ability and willingness to utilize technology to enhance job performance.
  • Stellar self-organization skills demonstrated by planning each day, week, and month, and maintaining a professional image.
  • Conscientiousness in following established administrative procedures, including maintenance of customer information sheets and timely submission of reports.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate effectively within established budgetary constraints.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Effective English and Spanish communication skills, both oral and written, preferred.
