The Territory Sales Manager plays a crucial role in acquiring new accounts and maintaining relationships with existing customers. This position requires managing the territory effectively by providing services and solutions to customers, achieving sales volumes and profitability goals, and implementing corporate strategic objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying leads, managing a Salesforce CRM pipeline, and ensuring customer satisfaction while balancing company interests. The role demands a proactive approach to customer relations, problem-solving, and the ability to advocate for customer needs while adhering to company profitability goals. In this position, you will actively participate in company marketing and sales campaigns, manage customer relations, and provide valuable solutions to customers. You will also be responsible for administrative tasks, including documenting critical customer information in the CRM and managing your budget and expense account according to company guidelines. This role requires a high level of independence and adherence to company standards, with the potential for additional responsibilities as the company evolves.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire new accounts and maintain relationships with existing customers.
  • Manage the territory to maximize returns and meet or exceed sales budgets.
  • Identify leads through personal territory knowledge and maintain them in Salesforce CRM.
  • Generate and maintain a contact list for effective referrals and introductions.
  • Maintain an accurate Salesforce pipeline and handle credit applications, account setup, quotes, and customer files.
  • Actively participate in all company marketing and sales campaigns.
  • Maximize territory returns while understanding company profitability.
  • Implement company-endorsed sales processes and utilize provided lists of prospective customers.
  • Support and provide feedback on company marketing strategies and market trends.
  • Manage customer relations, advocating for their needs while balancing company interests.
  • Provide valuable solutions to customers, establishing credibility as a resource.
  • Investigate and resolve customer issues related to deliveries, billing, and collections.
  • Perform necessary administrative tasks, including documenting critical customer information in CRM and responding to internal inquiries.
  • Manage budget and expense account in accordance with company guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or Engineering preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in an outside sales position, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint; Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to write clear and concise proposals and technical documents.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to manage difficult customer situations.
  • Understanding of business implications of decisions and orientation to profitability.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the lubricant or oil distribution industry.
  • Familiarity with financial report interpretation and mathematical concepts related to sales.
