The primary purpose of this position is to develop and manage established as well as new customers by selling food and non-food items to achieve sales and profitability goals. The Territory Manager will be the primary owner of customer relationships, engaging customers in value-added activities and leveraging other resources to assist with top penetration opportunities and new account openings. US Foods provides a comprehensive training program for the Territory Manager position, ensuring that employees are well-equipped to succeed in their roles. Essential duties and responsibilities include fostering customer relationships in a team-based selling model, managing deliveries according to the routing schedule published by the transportation department, and troubleshooting any problems that occur during the order process, such as delivery mis-picks, short loads, or stock-outs. The Territory Manager will also communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary, working closely with the credit department and clients to ensure all balances due are collected based on approved credit terms. In addition, the Territory Manager will be responsible for developing new business by identifying prospective customers through market intelligence databases, business directories, and leads from existing clients. Participation in organizations, clubs, trade shows, and conferences is also encouraged to expand the customer base. Knowledge of market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales is essential, as this information will be shared with customers as part of the value-added services provided. The role requires driving a motor vehicle to existing customers and prospects to ensure product delivery, which may involve lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs.
