About the position

The Territory Sales Manager at TrueNorth Steel is responsible for promoting and selling corrugated steel pipe, modular bridges, and related products within the Northeastern Minnesota and Wisconsin territory. This role requires exceptional communication skills, a proven sales record, and the ability to build strong relationships with customers, including consulting civil engineering firms and government agencies. The position involves significant travel to meet customer needs and achieve sales goals, while also collaborating with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell products to consulting civil engineering firms, county engineers, and contractors within the territory.
  • Compile lists of current and prospective customers for sales leads.
  • Maintain a current customer list in TrueNorth Steel's CRM platform.
  • Emphasize the promotion and sale of Modular Vehicular and Pedestrian Truss bridges.
  • Travel throughout the assigned territory to follow up on orders and develop relationships with customers.
  • Prepare bids with Estimators and Civil Engineers, ensuring competitive pricing.
  • Gather competitor pricing information to assist with bid prices.
  • Negotiate sales with customers after bids, adjusting prices as necessary.
  • Monitor customer projects and product preferences to focus sales efforts.
  • Attend sales meetings and explain Terms & Conditions to customers.
  • Assist accounts receivable with payment collections as needed.
  • Establish regular meetings with Inside Sales and Estimator teams.
  • Attend training seminars and participate in local and regional tradeshows.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of professional sales or consulting experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to interface professionally with customers.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and quality control practices.
  • Ability to read and understand detailed civil construction plans and specifications.
  • Effective multitasking and time management skills.
  • Driven personality with a strong desire to succeed.
