About the position

Southern Marketing Affiliates, Inc. (SMA) is seeking a dedicated and results-driven Territory Sales Manager to join our team in Lubbock, TX. This position is crucial for leading the sales efforts within the current SMA Customer Network while also focusing on developing new customers and exploring new market opportunities. The Territory Sales Manager will be responsible for actively engaging with a customer network within an assigned territory, which encompasses a wide range of agricultural-related parts and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales, particularly within the agriculture industry, and will be expected to achieve annual sales goals while maintaining excellent relationships with existing customers. In this role, the Territory Sales Manager will be tasked with training customers on the SMA website and other interactive tools, ensuring they are well-equipped to utilize our resources effectively. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for researching and recommending new product opportunities that align with market demands. A key aspect of the position involves recording customer interactions in the SMA Customer Resource Management (CRM) system, which is essential for tracking sales progress and customer engagement. The Territory Sales Manager will also monitor accounts receivable and assist in securing payments as needed, ensuring the financial health of the customer relationships. This position requires a proactive approach to sales and customer service, with a strong emphasis on communication skills and the ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, capable of identifying and capitalizing on new market opportunities while maintaining a focus on achieving sales targets.

Responsibilities

  • Actively calling on a customer network within an assigned Territory.
  • Achieving annual sales goals within the assigned Territory.
  • Training customers on the SMA website and other interactive tools.
  • Developing new customers and market segments in the area.
  • Researching and recommending new product opportunities.
  • Recording customer interactions in the SMA Customer Resource Management (CRM) system.
  • Monitoring accounts receivable and assisting in securing payment as needed.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience calling on a customer/dealer network.
  • Experience within the agriculture industry.
  • Excellent communication and sales skills.
  • Ability to travel 90% of the time.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong understanding of the aftermarket / all-makes agricultural parts market.
  • Previous experience working in production agriculture.
  • Experience working with farm supply stores, farm equipment dealerships, or similar.
  • Bachelor's degree in a Sales or Agricultural related field.
