About the position

The Territory Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales growth within the assigned territory, which includes Chicago, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. This role involves building and maintaining relationships with distribution partners, conducting sales presentations, and providing training to enhance sales performance. The position requires significant travel to support distributors and direct accounts, ensuring a strong presence in the market and effective communication with all stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and recommend new distribution partners.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing distribution partners.
  • Conduct sales presentations at distributor locations and trade shows.
  • Train distributors on the function of all company parts.
  • Increase sales of the distribution channel by an agreed percentage within the assigned territory.
  • Travel to distributors in the assigned territory for training and joint calls.
  • Assist distributors in identifying and developing new sales opportunities.
  • Advocate for distributors within the company.
  • Provide excellent experiences for distributors in all interactions.
  • Work with the Channel Sales Manager to sign new distributors.
  • Assist distributors with annual renewal agreements.
  • Drive accounts that fall out of the Direct Sales Guideline to appropriate resources.
  • Support direct accounts as assigned.
  • Focus direct sales efforts on targeted accounts.
  • Function as a direct sales resource for company services and training.
  • Fulfill all reporting requirements and maintain CRM data.
  • Provide timely reports to the RSM/CSM, including business reports and travel plans.
  • Develop annual sales projections with the Channel Sales Manager.
  • Report changes in forecast to the CSM promptly.
  • Maintain an accurate calendar with a rolling visit schedule.
  • Complete and submit expense reports in a timely manner.
  • Communicate cross-territorial sales opportunities with appropriate sales resources.
  • Support Key Account Management team members with sales activities in the assigned territory.
  • Support Channel Management team members with sales activities in the assigned territory.
  • Support Business Development team members with sales activities in the assigned territory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Five years of experience in technical automation sales or equivalent education and experience.
  • Technical degree such as Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to speak in large groups.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated with a high level of autonomy.
  • Ability to accumulate and demonstrate technical knowledge.
  • Willingness to learn company products and procedures.

Nice-to-haves
