About the position

The Territory Sales Manager at Virco MFG Corporation is responsible for achieving and exceeding annual sales goals within a designated territory. This role involves implementing the company's core values in daily activities, developing sales strategies, managing customer relationships, and maintaining a deep knowledge of Virco's product offerings. The position requires proactive lead generation and collaboration with the Regional Sales Manager to recommend new customers and product changes.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Virco's five core values in daily activities.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies for the assigned territory.
  • Sell the company's products to customers within the territory.
  • Solicit, maintain, and manage leads for future sales.
  • Develop and maintain leads through various channels including professional organizations and the internet.
  • Recommend new customers for approval by the Regional Sales Manager.
  • Gain expert knowledge of all Virco products through training and self-study.
  • Influence decision-makers to select and recommend Virco products.
  • Distribute sales materials to customers and users as required.
  • Order and maintain product samples for demonstrations.
  • Plan selling activities to maximize available selling time.
  • Travel as required for customer needs and market penetration.
  • Recommend product changes and new products for the assigned market.
  • Attend conventions where Virco's products are displayed as directed.
  • Complete and distribute required forms and documents as per company policy.
  • Study competitive product lines and market trends to improve sales presentations.
  • Inform the Sales Manager of significant market activities and competitive information.
  • Utilize company-provided sales software effectively.
  • Cultivate and protect the company's image and relationships with customers.
  • Conform to all company policies and cooperate with personnel.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of prior experience in sales.
  • Preferred: 4-year college degree and experience in K-12 educational sales.
  • Good communication skills and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in relevant systems and office-related equipment.
  • Ability to meet and maintain performance standards.
  • Demonstrated job-critical skills including teamwork, flexibility, and leadership.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in K-12 educational sales is preferred.
