About the position

The Territory Sales Manager at BlueLinx is responsible for managing existing customer relationships while actively seeking new sales opportunities to grow the region. This role requires a proactive 'hunter' mentality to identify new revenue streams and support established clients, emphasizing relationship building as a key aspect of success. The position offers a solid base salary complemented by a commission structure, making it an attractive opportunity for driven sales professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies new sales opportunities with new and existing customers, focusing on selling program business.
  • Maximizes sales efforts by concentrating on the largest and most profitable opportunities.
  • Improves profitability, product penetration, and product mix with all customers.
  • Qualifies sales opportunities through market/customer research and collaboration with inside sales representatives.
  • Develops sales solutions and competitive pricing strategies, communicating the value proposition to customers.
  • Proposes sales solutions and reevaluates them as necessary.
  • Closes sales opportunities by gaining purchase orders and executing all order fulfillment procedures.
  • Provides outstanding customer service and post-sales satisfaction to facilitate long-term relationships for repeat business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience strongly preferred; MS/MBA is a plus.
  • 4+ years of experience as a sales driver, managing an established book of business and increasing partnerships.
  • Knowledge of building materials is a plus.
  • Strong market knowledge, product experience, and relationship-building skills, along with consultative selling skills.
  • Possesses a 'hunter' mentality.
  • Strong planning, organization, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Solid knowledge in account management, scheduling, customer support, product knowledge, pricing, sales support, warehousing, distribution, transportation, and records.
  • Self-motivated and driven individual.
  • Basic telephone skills with the ability to identify key issues, evaluate facts, and recommend appropriate action.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant sales systems technology.
