About the position

AutoZone's Territory Sales Manager (TSM) plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing relationships with both current and prospective Commercial customers within a designated territory. The TSM is responsible for ensuring that all customers receive exceptional service, which is a core value at AutoZone. This position requires a proactive approach to customer engagement, where the TSM must consistently deliver WOW! Customer Service to all AZ Commercial accounts by embodying the company's pledge in daily operations. The TSM is expected to exceed customer expectations and foster loyalty and trust among clients, which is essential for long-term business success. In this role, the TSM will oversee the customer service and sales operations of the stores within their territory. This includes managing the performance of Mobile Sales Representatives and Commercial Managers to ensure that customer complaints are addressed promptly and effectively. The TSM will also motivate and lead the Commercial team to achieve sales targets and enhance the profitability of the company. Collaboration with Operations management is vital to ensure a seamless customer experience from the initial sales call through to fulfillment. The TSM will be responsible for developing market analysis and action plans tailored for commercial accounts, as well as maintaining and revising key customer plans. Regular visits to commercial accounts are necessary to ensure that services and deliveries are executed as promised. The TSM will identify new business opportunities within the market and develop new accounts through direct engagement with potential customers, both face-to-face and via telephone. Adherence to company policies and loss prevention procedures is mandatory, as is maintaining a safe working environment for all AutoZoners. The TSM must also ensure compliance with safe driving rules and procedures, as well as proper vehicle maintenance and reporting of any issues. Overall, the Territory Sales Manager is a dynamic role that requires a blend of sales acumen, leadership, and customer service excellence, all aimed at driving business growth and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Grows loyalty and trust with customers
  • Maintains adequate sales numbers, ensuring that Commercial customers are taken care of by Mobile Sales Reps and Commercial Managers are responding to customer complaints
  • Oversees the customer service, sales and general workings of the stores within their territory
  • Motivates and leads Commercial team to achieve the sales target, as well as increase the profitability of the company
  • Partners with Operations management to ensure a solid customer experience from sales call to fulfillment
  • Develops market analysis and action plans for commercial accounts
  • Develops, maintains, and revises key customer plans
  • Motivates Commercial AutoZoners to provide WOW! Customer Service, enhance productivity level and market products to enhance sales and profits
  • Visits commercial accounts and ensures accounts are serviced and deliveries are made as promised
  • Identifies new opportunities within the market, develops new accounts through face to face and telephone contact with potential customers
  • Ensures all company policies and loss prevention procedures are followed
  • Maintains a safe working environment while ensuring AutoZoners are implementing those practices including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Complies with safe driving rules and procedures and ensures all Commercial Zoners have approved driver status
  • Properly maintains vehicle(s) and takes the necessary steps to report vehicle maintenance issues
  • Follows proper accident procedures
  • Provides feedback regarding AutoZoner performance
  • Addresses commercial customer concerns and resolves them with a goal of turning a complaint into a compliment
  • Ensures all stocking programs are stocked each week per policy
  • Ability to work all the hours (of operation) that we are open for business
  • Performs other related duties as required

Requirements

  • Minimum three years of related experience in outside sales (automotive industry a plus)
  • Direct or indirect experience managing and leading people
  • Relentless pursuit of new profitable business and penetration of current accounts
  • Ability to create and execute customer development plans
  • Ability to analyze sales reports and take appropriate action
  • Understanding of P&L statement and gross profit
  • Strong communication, negotiation, organization and leadership skills
  • Integrity, honesty, passion, drive and the desire for success
  • Excellent customer service skills
