About the position

The Territory Sales Manager at S & K Sales Co. is a pivotal role responsible for driving sales, distribution, and merchandising of products within commissary and exchange stores in the assigned territory. The primary objective of this position is to increase sales through effective management of product placement, promotion, and client relationships. The Territory Sales Manager will engage in direct sales activities, ensuring that new items are introduced effectively and that existing products are well-represented in stores. This includes obtaining orders for new items, securing commitments for adequate shelf space, and promoting upcoming sales initiatives. In this role, the manager will be expected to review sales plans with buyers, communicate product details such as pricing and warranty information, and ensure that all products are properly shelved and displayed. The manager will also be responsible for maintaining accurate pricing signage and managing product distribution through web-based reporting systems. Collaboration with store personnel is essential to ensure that displays and shelves meet the standards set by account and store managers. Additionally, the Territory Sales Manager will be involved in hiring and training new independent contractors, as well as managing invoicing and payments for these contractors. The position requires the ability to utilize various mobile applications for managing sales data and analyzing trends. The ideal candidate will possess strong selling skills, knowledge of military commissary and exchange sales, and effective communication abilities. Physical demands include the ability to stand for extended periods, work in cold storage areas, and lift a minimum of 25 lbs. Overnight travel may also be required, making flexibility and adaptability key traits for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Sell in new item distribution on every call.
  • Obtain orders for new items and commitments for adequate shelf space in proper location.
  • Sell in all upcoming promotions and obtain orders for products.
  • Communicate clearly with clients, distributors, retailers, and buyers regarding product details.
  • Ensure all products are placed in stores and properly shelved and displayed in assigned accounts.
  • Manage distribution of products through web-based reports.
  • Work with store personnel to ensure displays and shelves are stocked to standards.
  • Hire and train new independent contractors and manage invoicing for them.
  • Utilize mobile applications to manage NIS and analyze sales trends.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 years of outside sales experience.
  • Valid driver's license is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and web-based applications.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Military Commissary/Exchange Sales.
  • Effective selling skills and techniques.
  • Knowledge of grocery merchandising and marketing methodology.
  • Good command of the English language, both orally and written.
  • Good analytical skills.
