About the position

Westland Distributing is seeking a Territory Sales Manager to drive profitable sales growth in our Phoenix, AZ Branch. This role is pivotal in maximizing revenue through repeat customers and sourcing new active accounts. The primary territory for this position encompasses the Southwest region, including Arizona, Southern Utah, Nevada, and California, with occasional travel to additional locations. The Territory Sales Manager will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive territory sales plan that includes regular in-person visits to key accounts, consistent prospecting, and collaboration with the Branch Manager and Counter Sales staff to identify and capitalize on revenue opportunities. In this role, the Territory Sales Manager is expected to cultivate expert-level knowledge of our manufactured housing offerings, the local market dynamics, and our customer base to consistently meet or exceed sales targets. The Territory Sales Manager will engage with current accounts and prospects regularly to generate sales and build positive relationships with decision-makers. Responsibilities include creating a market plan focused on relationship-building and identifying selling opportunities, assisting with sales activities for national accounts, and developing an organized plan for territory coverage. This role requires regular overnight travel to maximize selling activities and effective time management to balance face-to-face interactions with existing customers and new prospects. The successful candidate will utilize internal tracking tools to document sales activities and enhance their product and industry knowledge continually. They will also assist new customers with account setup and act as a liaison between customers and internal departments to resolve issues promptly. Participation in trade shows and conventions is also expected to build relationships and educate prospects about Westland's offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Generate sales by calling on current accounts and prospects in person regularly.
  • Develop and execute a territory sales plan that includes in-person visits and prospecting.
  • Collaborate with the Branch Manager and Counter Sales staff to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Create a market plan focused on building relationships and selling opportunities.
  • Assist with sales activities that support national accounts as a Territory Sales Manager.
  • Organize a plan for covering the territory and schedule appointments in advance.
  • Document sales appointments, leads, opportunities, and follow-up information using internal tracking tools.
  • Enhance product, industry, and sales process knowledge continuously.
  • Provide training to new customers and prospects on Westland products and services.
  • Assist new customers with the account setup process and ensure proper completion of credit applications.
  • Act as a liaison between customers and internal departments to resolve issues promptly.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to management regarding product needs and market conditions.
  • Participate in developing the sales forecast for the territory and execute action plans to achieve sales objectives.
  • Attend trade shows, conventions, and association meetings to build relationships and educate prospects.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of proven performance in an Outside Sales role.
  • Experience in construction, building materials, or manufactured housing is a plus.
  • Outgoing relationship builder who connects easily with people.
  • Ability to create and execute a territory sales plan consistently.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and willing to learn Sage 100.
  • Strong work ethic with a desire to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Eagerness to grow professionally and take on new challenges.
  • Solution-oriented with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Demonstrated success in a comparable sales role.
  • Ability to quickly learn a variety of product knowledge.
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills with a proven ability to close sales.
