About the position

The Territory Sales Representative (TSR) at Utz Quality Foods is responsible for maximizing sales profitability and market penetration in a designated area. This role involves developing strong relationships with independent distributors and retail trade, effectively communicating the company's sales and merchandising strategies. The TSR will work closely with the Zone Sales Manager and is expected to possess strong communication skills, a proactive approach to relationship building, and a willingness to learn about independent distribution models.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain proactive and professional relations with the Retail Trade and Independent Distributors.
  • Act as a key liaison between the Zone Sales Manager and Independent Distributor.
  • Reinforce Utz's support for independent distributors with retail store managers and decision makers.
  • Maintain regular retail chain contacts with frequent visits to support service levels.
  • Offer information on industry performance and service measurements to independent distributors.
  • Facilitate improvements in results of independent distributors by providing necessary information.
  • Support the Zone Sales Manager at workshop meetings for independent distributors.
  • Encourage Independent Distributors to utilize available tools for sales potential.
  • Provide full-day route ride-a-longs at the request of the Independent Distributor.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities while remaining flexible.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Independent Distribution models preferred.
  • Capability to build trust and rapport through persuasion and respect.
  • Requires ethical selling and negotiation skills.
  • Proactive communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail, organization, and ability to prioritize.
  • Functional knowledge and proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs.
  • Ability to lift, push, transport, and pull product weighing up to and over 40lbs.
  • Must be at least 19 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain a DOT certification.

Nice-to-haves

  • Up to 1-3 years' experience in sales operations, preferably in the snack, grocery, or beverage industry.
