About the position

The Test Capability Engineer will support the Project Management Division at Arnold AFB, TN, focusing on the planning and implementation of acquisition strategies for special test equipment related to turbine engine testing. The role requires in-depth knowledge of jet engine design and operation, along with extensive experience in ground testing of jet engines, particularly within military test facilities like AEDC.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with stakeholders to define requirements/specifications/constraints for needed equipment and services.
  • Assess options/alternatives and establish testing validation and verification criteria to ensure systems meet requirements.
  • Develop/update project technical documentation including Life Cycle Sustainment Plans and Technical Requirements Documents.
  • Work closely with AF Procurement to establish technical evaluation criteria for outside contractor source selection.
  • Provide technical evaluation of outside contractor's project proposals.
  • Coordinate with Test Operations and Sustainment contractor for design, fabrication, installation, and testing support.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet the desired vision by coordinating with test area personnel.
  • Brief local leadership and external customers on project status.
  • Support incremental project design reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations at various decision points throughout the project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline; Master's degree desired.
  • 3-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledgeable of jet engine ground testing.
  • Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Extensive turbine engine testing experience/expertise highly desired.
  • Experience working at a military test facility beneficial, with AEDC experience highly desired.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in project management within a technical environment.
  • Familiarity with military procurement processes.
