About the position

The Data Engineer position is responsible for collaborating with technology and infrastructure teams to identify data relationships and functional requirements that support strategic goals for data management. This role involves analyzing and resolving issues related to information flow and content, providing expertise in business intelligence, data modeling, infrastructure enhancement, and architecture for data generation. The Data Engineer will design and implement data solutions and models to effectively store and retrieve company data, ensuring compliance with both internal and external regulations. In this role, the Data Engineer will define, design, and oversee the systems and applications architecture for both current and future business applications. They will partner with information technology teams to ensure that applications meet business requirements, are well-documented, and have established processes for ongoing support and maintenance. The Data Engineer will also examine and identify structural data necessities by evaluating operations, applications, and programming of data systems, while installing and organizing information systems. Additionally, the Data Engineer will evaluate new and emerging technologies and development methodologies to find faster, cost-effective, and reliable solutions for existing and proposed systems. They will recommend solutions to improve both new and existing data systems and oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions. Monitoring system performance through testing, troubleshooting, and integrating new features is also a key responsibility, along with maintaining data security and creating standards to ensure system safety. The Data Engineer will offer data support by responding to system problems and educating staff members through training and individual support, while preparing data design and architecture reports.

Requirements

• Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline.
• Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field.
• Certification is required in some areas.
