About the position

The Test Development Engineer II position at Raytheon involves designing and developing test equipment for various defense systems, including radar, sonar, and missile systems. The role requires collaboration within a diverse project team to create advanced test solutions that ensure product performance and reliability. Engineers will engage in the entire lifecycle of test solution development, from initial design to deployment, while also supporting manufacturing operations and troubleshooting as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop test hardware, software, and/or firmware from requirements definition through deployment.
  • Identify test readiness issues and optimizations throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Understand and meet established project budget, schedule, and performance commitments.
  • Guide mechanical engineering and/or suppliers through test adapter design activities.
  • Function as an individual contributor, working autonomously with limited supervision.
  • Engage in personal technical growth and prepare work products for project status meetings.
  • Support manufacturing operations, including on-site troubleshooting and debugging.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 2 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree.
  • Experience in engineering design and development, preferably related to test equipment development efforts.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with National Instruments' TestStand, LabWindows/CVI, and/or LabVIEW.
  • Experience with Digital, Analog, RF, and/or Power Supply test hardware and/or software design.
  • Experience with VXI / VME / MXI / PXI / CompactPCI application development.
  • Experience with commercial test and measurement equipment.
  • VHDL and embedded system design knowledge.
