About the position
The Test Engineer will support senior Test Engineers in the coordination and implementation of test plans for Structural Strength Testing. This role involves test planning, scheduling, procurement, procedural preparations, conducting tests, and fabricating fixtures. The engineer will interact with various technical drawings and requirements, write operational instructions, and ensure safety procedures are followed.
Responsibilities
- Support senior Test Engineers in the coordination of test plan implementation and follow ET30 procedures for Structural Strength Testing.
- Plan, schedule, procure, prepare procedures, conduct tests, and fabricate fixtures.
- Interact with drawings of facilities, test hardware, customer hardware, and instrumentation requirements.
- Write instructions for technician operations, including application of safety procedures.
- Coordinate with NASA project level customers to ensure mission success.
- Work with a diverse team to design, develop, setup, and perform structural testing on space flight qualification hardware.
- Participate in safety culture initiatives and attend relevant meetings and reviews.
- Develop and deliver reports and presentations to support customer requirements.
- Perform safety and certification training as required.
Requirements
- Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience in the aerospace field is required.
- Degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred.
- Strong desire to conduct hands-on work in a lab testing environment.
- Experience with load control systems, instrumentation systems, and facility operations.
- Familiarity with high pressure gas and hydraulic systems.
- Experience operating in the presence of cryogenic liquids and explosives.

- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
